Philip Zetlers FAMOUS ANTIQUE SMITHS CLOCK

The store is famous for its 100 year old, square-faced Smith's clock affixed to its front, which contributes greatly to our store's unique character. It still serves as a landmark and rendevous point for lovers and business people alike.

Time marches on, and for nearly a century, the clock on St George's Mall has been the recorder of that time. The clock, situated at 54 St George's Mall, was last serviced 10 years ago but was in such good shape, that not a single part had to be replaced - good cleaning and greasing was all it needed.

The clock is owned by Philip Zetler, the jeweller at which it is situated. Philip renamed the clock (originally called Stanley's Clock) in 1989 when he had it rebronzed and reconditioned. According to Philip, 'everyone is working hard to make the central city a cleaner and safer place and their efforts are paying off. Fixing the antique clock is just a small way to contribute to the rejuvenation of the area.' Philip Zetler Jewellers specializes in watch repairs, batteries and servicing, over and above buying and selling jewellery, diamonds and watches, pre-owned Rolex being his speciality.
